From Blog to Book: How Whatever Next? Grew Into Something Bigger

When I started the Whatever Next? blog over five years ago, I didn’t imagine it would turn into a book. What began as a space to capture thoughts from the frontline of transformation, enterprise architecture, and service design slowly grew into something much bigger—a living journal of over 160 posts, each one wrestling with the question of what it really takes to make change stick.

Those posts were never written with a book in mind. They were written in the moment—sometimes in response to challenges at work, sometimes sparked by conversations over coffee, sometimes simply as a way of making sense of the patterns I kept seeing. But looking back, they map a journey. You can trace how ideas evolved, how recurring themes kept surfacing, and how the head, heart, and system of transformation all needed to come together.

The book Whatever Next? couldn’t have existed without that body of writing. It’s built on the stories, the questions, and the lived experiences first captured in the blog. In many ways, the blog was the workshop; the book is the crafted piece that emerged from it.

If you’d like to explore that journey, the full archive of five years and 160+ posts is still there, open to anyone who wants to dip in: http://whatevernext.home.blog

Whether you start with the blog or the book, my hope is the same: that it sparks reflection, offers a few “lightbulb” moments, and helps us all make transformation a little more human, more honest, and more likely to stick.
